The message your company sends to the world is key. The foundation of this message comes from well-defined company culture and business values. Simply put, company culture is the set of norms, beliefs, ways of thinking, and feelings shared by the members of a company.

When we started the Discoverfy project, we believed it was essential to have a clear company culture. We made sure that all our hires fit perfectly with it to maximize results.

That’s why today we bring you Discoverfy’s business values to show you how we do it. Our goal is that this post serves as a source of inspiration for all those companies that are thinking about defining or redefining their company culture.

Here we go!

Discoverfy’s Business Values

Before we start analyzing each of the values, it’s worth mentioning that they are not ranked according to their importance, as they are all essential.

Sharing is caring

At Discoverfy we are firm believers that “sharing” is one of the qualities that best define a human being. Therefore, we wanted to adopt it as one of the fundamental pillars of our company.

As a company, we carry out many activities aimed at promoting knowledge sharing with the rest of the team.

Many of you will already be familiar with the Book Club we hold once a month. For those of you who are not: our Book Club consists of choosing a book from the shelf, or if you don’t find the one you want, you ask our CEO, Alejandro Ribó, for it.

It can’t be just any book, but you have to follow some rules:

  • The book has to be readable by everyone in the office (English or Spanish).
  • The book must be about general knowledge, not about anything specific (Programming Java Script would not be accepted, but Blockchain for dummies would).

Then, on the last Monday of every month, we meet for lunch where everyone has 5 minutes to summarize their book and recommend it or not to the rest.

Another activity we do as a company to promote knowledge sharing is the talking topic. This concept consists of getting the whole team together one day a week where one of us has 5 minutes to talk about any topic we want; any topic we like. Each week we have a different speaker so everyone has the chance to share their favorite topic.

Wellness & Balance

Without a good team, your company will not prosper. And in our opinion, the health and wellness of your employees is the most important thing, because those employees are the ones who will take your company to the top.

The entire Discoverfy team is aware of how important their health is. That’s why we all play sports on a regular basis: from paddle tennis to running to yoga to biking to the office every day. We also believe that mental fitness is equally or more important than physical fitness, which is why many of us spend 10 minutes a day meditating.

Learn by Doing & Take the Risk

Both in business and in life, this is one of the most relevant points that everyone should have instilled in their values. We live in a society that has a phobia of making mistakes when it should be the opposite. No one is born knowing how to do something well from the beginning. It is with a lot of practice that we become experts

An example of “learning by doing” is Blas Segarra, Co-Founder of Discoverfy, who is in charge of the company’s sales department. Blas tries new strategies every day, every week, every month… to see which ones give the best results. In this way, he learns from the interactions of potential customers.

Challenge the Status Quo

First of all, we are not saying that we should all be anarchists. Adopting this value in the company for us means that no one should conform to the established norms. Your dreams can be affected by certain norms or assumptions accepted by society. What we must do is to rebel against this power. You are the one who creates your own destiny!

Both Martin Colombo, CTO & Co-Founder, and Juliana Roseiro, UX/UI Designer, came from South America to Spain to make their dreams come true. Both journeys were not easy for them. They had to pass through different countries —due to visa issues— before they could reach Spain. Neither of them accepted the established rules or gave up until they reached Barcelona.

Fearless Mindset

There is nothing to be afraid of in this world. The world belongs to the brave. And in our team, we all have this courage engraved on our foreheads.

Even so, the one who best describes this point is our CEO, Alejandro Ribó, who at 36 years old, with a wife and three children, is still committed to undertaking new projects, with the risks that this entails.

Besides, anyone would have given up after undertaking two projects that didn’t work out, but not Alex. He undertook his third project without fear of what the future may bring. That’s who he is, and that’s what Discoverfy is.

This is it for today! We hope we inspired you in creating important business values for your company.

See you in the next post! 🙂
