There is a good chance that more than once you have considered to create an eCommerce website. Whether it’s to sell your own products or services, or to create a drop shipping platform.

We are neither fortune tellers, nor gurus, nor anything like that. Don’t worry. It’s just that it has happened to us and many people we know.

However, there are always two things that pull you back, money and knowledge. You don’t want to risk investing a lot of money in something that you don’t know if you are able to pull off. And also, the lack of knowledge of web development just knocks down any aspiration to create something.

And, that’s when your dreams fall apart.

But, what if you could create an eCommerce website with less than 100€ and without any technical knowledge of web programming?

Keep reading because in today’s post we will explain to you how to do it.

Here we go!

How to create an eCommerce for less than 100€?

In this article, we have included two ways to start building your eCommerce. Both ways have their advantages and disadvantages. So let’s take a look at them:

The first way to create your eCommerce: Shopify

The first way to create an eCommerce is Shopify. It helps you build your eCommerce without programming skills and without spending a lot of money.

Shopify is a CMS (Content Management System) that allows you to create your eCommerce in a simple, easy and intuitive way. It offers a wide variety of templates. This variety helps you create and customize your website with the colors and images you want.

In addition to the easy management of your online store, Shopify allows the creation of a blog to promote your store. Creating a blog helps the SEO positioning of your store.

They also solve one of the main problems when setting up an online store, which is the loading speed of the website. With their included hosting, you have nothing to worry about.

You can create unlimited products and organize them by categories, filters, etc.

And, it allows you to accept and manage orders almost instantly. You get notifications to your email and cell phone, or however you customize it, after each sale.

What do you need to start using it? Go to their website and add an email address. Then you need to fill in all the fields they ask you to fill (it’s very fast) and choose which plan fits your needs.

How much does Shopify cost?

Shopify has 3 different plans:

  • Basic Shopify Plan (29 usd/month, about 26€ per month approximately). This is the most basic plan. If you are just starting out, we recommend this plan, as it allows you to create unlimited products and categories.
  • Shopify Plan (79 usd/month, about 72€ approximately). Apart from having the features of the Basic Plan, this plan offers the ability to create performance reports.
  • Advanced Shopify Plan (299 usd/month, approximately 273€). This plan is for big businesses. When you set up your first eCommerce with the Basic Plan, your goal should be to be able to use the Advanced Plan.

You should be aware that Shopify introduces a payment fee of between 2.4% and 1.8% (depending on your plan) for each payment you receive. This is only in case of using their payment processor, Shopify Pay.

The second way to create your eCommerce: WordPress & Woocommerce

The second way to create an eCommerce website is WordPress and Woocommerce. This solution will require you a little more time and work than the previous one, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less attractive.

Unlike Shopify, with WordPress you will only need to make an annual payment for hosting and domain. For example, Sered offers both for 71€ per year, less than 6€ per month.

In this case, the CMS is WordPress and Woocommerce is a free plugin that you can install later when you are setting up your website from the WordPress dashboard.

WordPress, initially, may seem a bit more confusing and less intuitive than Shopify. However, once you get used to how it works it’s quite easy to use. This CMS offers a wide variety of templates to start creating your website and in addition, many of them are templates made for eCommerce.

Why choose this way? Despite the disadvantage of its difficulty of use, Woocommerce allows an incredible customization of your store.

After making an initial payment of less than 100€ you can start building your eCommerce. It’s a much cheaper opportunity than the possibility of creating your online store with Shopify.

So, which one should you choose? Which one is the best platform to create an eCommerce website?

Well, there is no right choice. Both options have their advantages and disadvantages, so make sure you choose the option that best suits your eCommerce needs.

Don’t worry. Now we are going to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each one so that it will be much clearer for you to start creating your eCommerce now.

Knowledge & time

If you have no idea how WordPress works and learning how to use it would take too much of your time, it’s better that you choose to create your store with Shopify. On the contrary, if you think you have enough time to dedicate to this project and you want to have the ability to customize your site as much as possible, then choose Woocommerce.

Initial investment

As we have already mentioned, Shopify has monthly payment plans which means a higher investment in the long run. On the other hand, with WordPress and Woocommerce you only need to make an initial investment of less than 100€ and you can enjoy your store for a year.

In both cases, payment applications such as Stripe or Paypal that allow you to receive online payments take commissions for each transaction made.

Security

Security is very important for users when making a payment on a website. When you browse websites and you see the icon that this site is not secure, you think “I’m not going to give my data on this website”.

Shopify has built-in security certificates by default so you don’t have to worry about anything. If you choose Woocommerce, you will have to do it yourself. However, there are many options today that include security certificates in the initial price and you only need to install it later.

SEO

The SEO positioning of an online store is one of the most important aspects to take into account. Appearing in the first Google searches brings a lot of traffic to your website.

In the case of Shopify, the SEO tools it offers are more basic compared to those offered by Woocommerce. Still, if the content of your site is of good quality, it will work perfectly for you. In the list of apps to use in Shopify there are also apps that help with SEO.

Woocommerce has a wide variety of tools to help with SEO thanks to the infinite number of plugins that WordPress offers.

While it is true that there are studies that say that the loading speed of Shopify pages are faster, WordPress also offers plugins that allow you to optimize your website to improve its loading speed.

How to improve your website’s load speed?

As you can see, both options are correct and it is up to you to decide what to do.
